Why was my Google Business Profile Suspended?

This is the most frustrating part for business owners because Google rarely gives a specific reason or any reason, but here are common ones:

• Address Issues: Using a P.O. Box, UPS store address, or a virtual address, which are all against Google guidelines

• Name Mismatch: Adding extra keywords to businesses in the business name (e.g., "Denver Motorcycle Accident Attorney") instead of using the exact registered legal business name.

• Suspicious Activity: Making too many changes to the profile at once, especially the name, address, or phone number. Also, having a manager on the account who has been associated with other suspended profiles with violations.

• A big one in 2026 is Google Business Profile review violations and manipulation, including fake reviews, incentivized reviews, or encouraging what text is in the review.

How long does the Google Business Profile Reinstatement process take?

A typical review time in 2026 is about 3-7 business days. Keep in mind that there can be delays if Google requests additional evidence or a new video verification, the process can stretch out.

Will my Google Business Profile reviews be gone when the profile comes back?

This is always a fear for any business after they have worked hard to get reviews and have gained trust from their customers. For the most part, once it's reinstated, the reviews, photos, and post history will likely reappear as they were before the suspension, but that is also determined by the cause of the suspension in the first place.

Should I just create a new Google Business Profile while I wait?

The answer is absolutely not! Creating a duplicate profile is also a violation of Google's terms. It can also make the original suspension hard to fix and may lead to a permanent suspension to both listings.

How serious is my Google Business Profile suspension?

Google Business Profile suspensions, restrictions, or what some refer to as "Google Business Profile jail" make you feel defeated no matter what the level is. A Hard Suspension is the worst-case scenario, and you'll know because your GBP is completely removed from Google entirely, and this will be the most difficult to restore, generally and in its entirety. A Soft Suspension means that the listing has been disabled but it's still visible in search, but it's unverified and you are unable to make edits, but there's still hope to get it reverified or reinstated.
